Biography

The first objective of Tanger is to make their own music, above all other interests, such as the scenic show or their personal fulfillment. We have tried to create a personal and interesting piece of work, always within balance and good taste.

The second objective of Tanger is to vindicate the work of the musicians as a professional work , without forgetting respect of their own work; our rules are to avoid unfavorable agreements as regards recordings and concerts, as well keeping the legal rights and absolute control during all the creative and commercial process of their work.

The third objective of Tanger is to give priority to their own artistic need disregarding the habits of the moment. They intend to create music, without paying attention to the musical genre, instruments or pressures of the market. In other words, they are interested in the evolution of the music despite being far from the arbitrary classifications and massive tendencies, and they are willing to explore new sounds and influences. They also give priority to the individuals.

The fourth objective of Tanger is to let the music speak by itself, in the search of the aesthetic emotion.

Luis Colucci conceived the idea of Tanger in the middle of 1995. After the group El Límite split up the year before, Colucci called flute player Daniel Algieri, also former member of El Límite, to make a band of instrumental fusion. The line up was finished after many changes, with Marcos Serra in guitars and Calo Silvetti in drums. This was the line up that played for the first time in Santa María Theatre, Buenos Aires, on January 6 1996

The next year and a half, Tanger played in different pubs, theatres, squares and radios of Capital and Greater Buenos Aires with praising critics by the people and the media.

In the middle of June 1997 Marcos Serra left and Calo Silvetti the group, who were immediately replaced by Ignacio Lois in guitars and Julián De Ambrosio in drums and percussion.

On August 2 of the same year the new line up played for the first time in the pub "El Mirador", in the district of San Telmo. At the end of 1998, Tanger started recording their first CD in an independent way, with the artistic production by the band and the executive production both Joaquín y Julián Jares. The CD came out a in September 1999, and was presented in November of the same year, in Teatro de la Fábula, in a successful concert recorded on video and CD.

After that concert and some acoustic performances, Daniel Algieri left the group, one pof the founders of the group. Since March 2000, he has been replaced by Damián Lois. Nowadays, Tanger is preparing new material with some guest musicians; among whom, Miguel Palma in acoustic guitar and keyboards, and Francisco Huici in Sax. They are also recording their second CD in Nuevo Mundo studio, and compiling live material for a future CD.

“La otra cara” was published in August 2002 by the independent label Viajero Inmóvil Records. In August 2002, Julián De Ambrosio emigrated to Spain and, since September, his place was taken by Ignacio Martínez. In February 2003 Ignacio Lois left for Barcelona and his place on the guitar was successively occupied by Agustín Valero, Axel Fuhrmann and, from late 2004 to the present, by Eduardo Ferreyra with whom the CD "Ciudad" was recorded, released in February of 2006. At the end of 2007 Tanger finished the recording of his fourth CD, "Mundos paralelos" to be released in May 2008.

After long years of silence, an unfinished album called “Asimetrías” with compositions recorded between 2010 and 2013 finally comes to light in digital format.
