Biography

The brothers Héctor López Fürst (1934/2003), violinist and guitarist, Rubén “Baby” López Fürst (1937/2000), guitarist and pianist, and Carlos “Lito” López Fürst (1944/2005), double bassist and saxophonist, began to travel the Jazz scene in the mid-1950s, although Lito, the youngest, did so about 10 years later. After participating in several Jazz groups and gaining experience as professionals, they formed a group that lasted for 16 years: The Blue Strings, addressing the theme of Gipsy Swing, Baby on guitar, Héctor on violin, Quique Gutiérrez De León on double bass and Adrián Macri on rhythm guitar.

Later (in 1971) they formed the López Fürst Quartet, a pioneering group in the Jazz Fusion style. It was made up of Hector on violin, Baby on electric guitar, Carlos, the younger brother, on double bass, and several others on drums: Nestor Astarita, Eduardo Casalla, Norberto Minichillo and Luis Cerávolo. (…)

The López Fürst brothers chose to stay in the country. Carlos stepped aside from professional music and devoted himself to advertising by opening his own agency, while Hector and Baby increasingly intensified their musical activity, both becoming the most important Jazz performers in Argentina, each on his own instrument.
