Biography
The band Mantra emerged in mid-1999 with a different and daring proposal, quickly becoming one of the main groups of the Rock scene of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
It consists of Vinicius Moselli (guitar, acoustic guitars and vocals), Igor Ribeiro (bass, guitar and vocals), Hugo Bizzotto (keyboards and vocals), Leo Dias (drums, marimba and vocals) and Marcelo Dias (sax, flute, vocals and guitar), performing professional musicians, academics, music teachers and culture researchers.
Research is a fundamental element in the characterization of the group's sound. The union of the classic elements of the typically Brazilian Rock, linked to the songs in Portuguese, that differentiates Mantra from other Progressive Rock bands in Brazil.
Among the works carried out include the discs “Contos do plano mental “ (2001), the Rock Opera “A guerra dos Emboabas” (2007) and “Maletta” (2012).
Mantra was winner of the BDMG Cultural Award, in addition to the Winter Festival Award of Mariana and Ouro Preto in 2006. He participated in the Cultural Vuelles of 2014 and 2016, circulated in various important areas of the country such as CCCP and Nectar - Rio de Janeiro, Fiesta of the Music of Fortaleza, among others, always dare to do the authorial work of rereading of artists of the progressive world scene.
On October 3, 2018, at the Teatro Marilia, the band Mantra presented their third album, "Próximo", which tells the story of 19 years, with nine songs with Portuguese copyright, new songs and old compositions of the principles of the group, recently redone.
