Biography

The group was born in the city of Córdoba in 1999, the result of a meeting between Pablo Sposetti (drums) and Sebastián Teves (bass), who joined Gustavo Barrera (guitar) and, after two sessions, Fabricio Morás (keyboards). Of that first formation that extended until 2002 only remains like roots a demo with cover in pencil.

From 1999 until 2002, the band played in all sorts of spaces and occasions, even forging a public of their own. After the departure of Sposetti by Pablo Dalmasso in the patches and the departure of Barrera, the group decided to continue its formation like trio, dispensing with the guitar.

At that time and after sharing a date with Pez at Casa Babylon, Azione Artigianale members pushed Sur Oculto to a recording studio. Thus the first album called "Trio" (2002) appears as a result of a live recording but inside a rehearsal room, faithful to the spirit of the band in their catatonic recitals that mixed Jazz, Funk and Rock in improvisations and reversions of themes of the previous training. With this record a promising stage in the band opens. Sur Oculto was part of the line up of Cosquín Rock in the second and third edition; Presented his cards in La Trastienda, Festipez and IMPA. "Trio" received very good reviews from the local press and Bueno Aires (the album was among the 50 best albums of the year according to Rolling Stones magazine and was recommended by Inrockuptibles magazine).

In 2006 he presented "Estados" (edited by Azione Artigianale), obtaining a repercussion similar to "Trio". Towards the end of that year Pablo Dalmasso ceded his space to Pablo Gonzalez in the battery of Sur Oculto. At the end of 2009, the trio at that time composed of Pablo González, Sebastián Teves and Fabricio Morás entered studios to record their third album, with the participation of Fernando Caballero (ex La Desatanudos) as Drum Doctor and guest in an improvisation session . The album titled "Sur Oculto" was released in early 2011 and was performed at the Teatro Real with sold out venues.

During 2012, the trio was chosen along with Eruca Sativa, Sig Ragga, Guauchos and Valle de Muñecas, among others, for the series of units "REFA" (Rock Emergente Federal Argentino) emitted by channel “Encuentro”, in which they were interviewed by Guillermo Vadalá and played 4 songs. In November 2012, Marcelo Iconomidis chose a theme recorded live during the show of the Teatro Real to broadcast it on Peter Capusotto and his videos, on the Public TV.

In December Sur Oculto ended a federal tour that took them by more than 20 cities of the country and 40 shows, celebrating with an event in Córdoba titled " Caos en el fin del mundo" in which it gathered to members of the first times. At the end of that year, Pablo Gonzalez leaves the formation to join Illya kuryaki and the Valderramas and its place is replaced by Agustín Romanelli during all the 2013. Sur Oculto closes the year receiving the "Prize to the Independent Culture" in the category music By Prensarte JB.

At the beginning of 2013 the band will perform again at Festipez in Ciudad Konex and for the third time at Cosquin Rock.

In the middle of march of that year, Sur Oculto reedited his discography and began a new federal tour that took them by Buenos Aires, Lavallol, La Rioja, San Luis, Río Cuarto, Colonia Caroya, and had them play in Chaco and Corrientes for the first time time.

They participated in the celebrations of 400 years of UNC, shared a date with Screaming Headless Torsos, played in the celebration of the 20 years of Pez in Niceto, closed the Jazz Festival in Córdoba with a full and ended the year in Córdoba next to Bardo Guanaco and Hijo de la Tormenta. After working throughout the year in the rehearsals, at the end of 2013 Emanuel Borgna entered instead of Agustín Romanelli on drums. This 2014 kept them in catches until the middle of the year, reorganizing and consolidating their ranks after Fabricio Morás gave way to Andrés Arias to start his solo career. Thus, in August Sur Oculto returned to the route with a new formula composed by Sebastian Teves (bass), Emanuel Borgna (drums) and Andrés Arias (keys), embarking on a tour that took them to visit Rafaela, Patagonia (Neuquén, Gral Roca, Regina, Bariloche, El Bolsón, Pico Truncado and Las Heras), different scenarios of Buenos Aires (in Burzaco, Temperley and CABA) and to appear after a year of its last performance in Córdoba, taking advantage of the occasion to fire Fabricio and presents new compositions. Currently the band has been completing 18 years of trajectory, with plans for new tours around the country and in full production of what will be his fourth studio album.
