Biography

Buenos Aires, 1982. A guy removes the gas mask in front of the mirror. New airs are blowing: the end of the military dictatorship in Argentina is approaching. In a suburban house, two young composers, Fernando Egozcue and Claudio Méndez, listen to Piazzolla. Excited discuss, delirious. They are enthusiastic to imagine a new music for the city: without bandoneón and even without tango ... from Astor, to take the post and to continue ... At the end of 1983, they decide to record in the study of Lito Vitale in Villa Adelina, center of attraction of the independent musical movement that was beginning to emerge. Many desires, lots of music, little money. An independent production. Record and exit with the material to knock doors to make themselves known. Only reached 500 cassettes. A premonitory number ... With the nobility of his youth and for the sake of art, musicians and artists participated in the work that would then develop excellent careers in our country and abroad.

Buenos Aires, 1984. At the end of a recital of Astor, as he left, one of those cassettes is approached by the window of the car to the cry of "Listen, Master !!". The following year he calls them Piazzolla and invites them to his house. Many times they had passed in front of that building without cheering or ringing. Silent, like someone passing a temple. "Have you heard it?" "What will you think of our tango?" To pass and to think, without encouraging to more ... Now they were there: nervous, expectant. Astor noticed and was creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. In a moment he got up, went to his room and returned with a score: "Be the gift, do what you want. This theme is something in a style that I think you can make sound, it is called “500 Motivaciones” because it has 500 bars! "Smiled the Master's accomplice. A few months later they named Piazzolla Illustrious Citizen of Buenos Aires and it was then that invited to Nuevos Aires to play the subject before him and his public. In 1989 and in 1992 Nuevos Aires in a version more rocker and electric records for Melopea.

Buenos Aires 2001. Lito Vitale offers his studio to record “500 Motivaciones”. It proposes to make it acoustic and with the original musicians of Nuevos Aires. It seemed like an impossible task. But they all come for love of art ... like 18 years before. And as a special gift is added Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla, the grandson of Astor, to play drums. In 2005 Melopea re-edit in CD the old cassette with the addition of this new take of “500 Motivaciones”.
