Biography
Formed in La Plata at the beginning of the millennium, Argentinean instrumental band Ünder Linden is one of the most refreshing novelties in the world of Symphonic Prog in their country. It started as a guitar-based power-trio, but the quintet format didn't take too long to evolve. Although the band is young, the members are veterans with diverse trajectories in previous bands throughout the 80s-90s, among which were Farenheit, Krill and Elixir de pasión, bearers of the Prog-Rock banner. The band's name is an allusion to the fact that some parts of the older side of La Plata were built to the image of some old neighborhoods in Berlin. Gabriela González (keyboards), Mario Gimeno (drums), Jorge Dal Cin (bass), Nacho Scarsella (guitar) and Roberto Medina (electric violin). This show was taped and released as a sort of independent demo in order to attempt to build a cult following, waiting for the chance to record a proper album. This eventually took place in 2007, when Viajero Inmóvil produced and released their eponymous debut album; its repertoire took more than one year to record. It has been reviewed positively in domestic prog-rock forums; their live performances are also highly appraised for featuring lots of musicality and energy. Since April of 2006, Juan González is the new guitarist.
The band's style is very dynamic and modern-sounding, mostly based on the guitar-violin duels fluidly set upon lush keyboards and a strong, precise rhythm duo. Main influences are Camel, UK and Focus, with certain similarities to KBB, but mainly providing an original effort.
