Biography
Driven by the environment of megacities, where cultural diversity and urban chaos become fascinating, the ProjetoB aims to develop a new musical language, a mix of Avant-Garde Jazz, Brazilian Music and Classical Contemporary Music.
This year 2015, the ProjetoB complete 15 years of existence with 4 albums released. The group is proud to work always full of unreleased material, both in his own compositions and the repertoire of adaptations. The adaptation of works by masters of Classical Music in the early twentieth century is a work that Projeto B develops since 2004, he recorded his first CD "Andarilho" with the adaptation and development of "St. Gaudens in the Boston Common" by Charles Ives, and their second album, “A noite” with an excerpt from"Rondes Printanières"of “The Rite of Spring” by Stravinsky. Projeto B is directly influenced by the experiments conducted by these first century composers. Their work with polyphonic texture, polyrhythms, harmony and orchestration is a "full plate" for the group with unusual adaptations by instrumentation, re-reading dynamic, writing and improvisation mix of different trends of Contemporary Instrumental Music.
On his first trip to Paris in 1923, Villa-Lobos was in the city where Debussy - one of his greatest inspirations - is no longer cutting edge and artists and fizzy intellectuals of the French capital turned their eyes and ears to the Russian composers - as Igor Stravinsky - which is a unique, modern and nationalist music. In this show, the Projeto B explores the experiences of Villa-Lobos in his first trip to Paris and contact with the music of Igor Stravinsky. Even earlier, already he is showing influences of music that took place in Paris at the time, as "Bruxa" of "Prole do Bebê" serie. Back in Paris, Villa-Lobos composed the "Choro # 2" and on his return to Brazil in 1925, ends "Choro # 5 - Alma Brasileira". European influences have always been part of his works, as in the twelve studies for guitar written by Andres Segovia, for example.
In March 2009, the Projeto B presents the show “A Sagração segundo Villa” in Campinas CPFL Culture, within the series "Viva Villa hoje", curated by journalist and music critic Juan Marcos Coelho. And in June of that year, the group resubmitted part of this repertoire in the commemorative spectacle of the 10 years of the group, held in Jazz in San Pablo funds.
In 2012 the group toured in New York and Seattle, including a residency at the Cornish College of Arts.
In 2016 the group released their fourth album, "Isso" ....
