Nicotina es Primavera is the musical project led by the Peruvian flutist Camilo Ángeles, young musician based in Buenos Aires, where he continued studies at the Conservatory Manuel de Falla. In this city Camilo made contact with several young musicians who shared his same concerns and accomplices in various musical adventures, always guided by the fusion of Jazz, Contemporary Music and Avant-Garde Rock would become. These adventures include Bath Salts groups (led by Carlos Quebrada and we could already see live in Lima), and nicotine is spring, making his recording debut with the album "Animal Cerámico" through Buh Records.
And it is that Camilo has become a key figure to create links between Experimental Rock scene of Argentina (well documented in the double album “Salgan al sol” (Buh Records, 2015) and Peru.
Nicotina es Primavera, is a septet formed in Buenos Aires by Juan Olivera (trumpet), Violeta García (cello), Camilo Ángeles (flute and composition), Pía Hernández (piano), Carlos Quebrada (bass), Nicolás del Águila (drums) and Fermín Merlo (vibraphone).
Nicotina es Primavera started playing since 2013 and since then have become a revelation of the Buenos Aires scene thanks to the blend of Jazz, Rock Experimental and Contemporary Music that connects with the tradition of so-called Rock in Opposition (RIO). His unclassifiable music stands out for its compositional strength, where traditional melody and dissonance, alternating and build musical landscapes of great complexity, where the Jazz and minimalist composition find a common path.
