Description

  • Tu tiempo es hoy - Una historia de Almendra  - (2017)

A fascinating journey through the history of Almendra, the group that formed, between 1968 and 1970, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Emilio Del Guercio, Edelmiro Molinari and Rodolfo García.

"Why does your music summon me? What stirs me from those songs written before I was born?"

From these questions, Julián Delgado begins a fascinating journey through the history of Almendra, the group that formed, between 1968 and 1970, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Emilio Del Guercio, Edelmiro Molinari and Rodolfo García.

Spinetta's first steps in singing at age 14.

The encounter with Del Guercio and the discovery of music as a place of rebellion against the conservatism of the school institution; A rebellion that later, with the coup d'état of 66, would take on a political significance.

The arrival of the Beatles, that new language that captured the young people and placed them in the center of the scene. The emergence of Almond as a singular appropriation of this new musical language.

The story of Almendra is the story of a time of great expectations and convulsions, whose potentialities and contradictions the group knew to reveal in their songbooks, playing with the dream that they could contribute to transform reality.

An addictive and detailed account, essential to understand how the musical project of four young twentysomethings laid the foundations of National Rock and changed the history of music in Argentina.
