The audacity of this Argentine jazz pianist, flutist, and producer is vividly channeled through this singular work, which defied the established canons of the genre. By integrating avant-garde electronic instruments—such as the Moog and Fender Rhodes—the artist achieves a sophisticated amalgam where Bebop harmonies converge with the warmth of Bossa Nova, anchored by Latin grooves and complex Afro-American rhythmic textures. In this sonic journey, he is supported by a roster of indispensable musicians of the caliber of Rubén Rada, Horacio 'Chivo' Borraro, and Norberto Minichillo, among other seminal figures.

This new project, conceived by stickist and bassist Ricky Saenz Paz (ex Clap, Los 7 Delfines, Cerati, Atlanticus, among others), materializes in a conceptual work of instrumental Progressive Rock with clear King Crimson influences. Right after releasing their first album, the band established itself on the local scene and, with some line-up changes, recorded this their second album, in 1980, featuring several important guest musicians. The excellent result of consolidating their very own Fusion recipe of Progressive Rock, Jazz Rock, Funk, and all spiced-up with a tasty helping of Uruguayan Candombe, produced quite a distinctive imprint of Avant-Garde sounds.

Based on the best Uruguayan Candombe tradition, its sensitive inner richness was the real motivation that brought together five instrumentalists to explore such a musical tradition and transform it into another Rock derivative. Candombe’s primitive rhythmic intensity, together with Rock, Funk, and Jazz, all originated from black cultural heritage, and was the channel chosen by the fivesome Raíces, to bring about a brilliant debut album, devoid of any solemnity, full of vitality and vibrant communication. It is very well worth noting that a promising and talented young lad was the keyboard player on these sessions. His name was Andrés Calamaro and made his recording debut on this album.

With a message and identifiable sound that was very much their own, La Fuente arrived at their second long play with an even more pronounced accent towards Latin American rhythms and atmospheres, which really stood out at that time. This album was recorded with special emphasis on carefully arranged vocals, which were the group's hallmark.

Their first, self-titled album, offered a unique proposal, which combined Progressive Folk Rock, a Folk projection or the Murga (a form of popular Argentine Musical Theatre) within the band’s compositions and with deep social content, as well as the exquisite vocal harmonies and stupendous arrangements.

After several years had passed since the band disbanded, the original lineup reunited to record this album, which hardened their Progressive Hard Rock style through the addition of nuances closer to Heavy Metal and including brand-new songs, as well as some of their old classics.

This is the group’s third album, which was recorded in 1983, with Willy Gardi as the only original member left. It is important to mention that this album was more of a personal project of Willy’s, who tried to radically change the band’s heavy style towards Jazz Rock, albeit without losing any of the strengths that they had been originally renowned for.

The Chilean band’s second recorded outing is a concept album featuring a musical aesthetic classifiable as Chamber Rock or R.I.O., in which more of an acoustic sound predominantly stands out. The excellent result is music with a definitive dramatic character. It is at times extremely eclectic and diverse, while also evoking mysterious dreams with deeply dark and ethereal overtones.
