Biography
The band Winona Riders was formed in 2018, with an initial lineup that included Ariel Mirabal (vocals and guitar), Ricardo Morales (guitar and backing vocals), Mauro Arenas (synthesizer and keyboard), Santiago Vidiri (bass), Gabriel Torres (percussion), and Francisco Cirillo (drums). Their public debut on stage took place in 2019, and in 2022 they marked their debut with the release of the single "Dopamina." The collective's musical proposal oscillates between a more canonical rock approach and less explored, more stimulating territories, venturing into genres such as noise rock and kraut rock.
In 2023, Winona Riders formalized a strategic collaboration with Indie Folks, materializing their sonic evolution in the debut album, titled «Esto es lo que obtenés cuando te cansas de lo que ya obtuviste» (This is what you get when you get tired of what you already got). This recording production reveals a palpable experimentation with diverse styles, where resonances of the Madchester sound are perceived.
Barely six months later, in November, the group returned with their second album, «El sonido del éxtasis» (The Sound of Ecstasy). The very title eloquently reflects the essence of the content, as the band perseveres in their journey through different soundscapes rooted in rock, but imbued with nuances of darkness, harshness, and experimental avant-garde. This album, in an apparent search for a catharsis analogous to the one they spark in their already almost mythical live performances, transcends the conventional confines of music.
The compositional audacity of Winona Riders is evidenced in structures that defy the established norms, with influences that evoke Velvet Underground and the spaghetti western, with a hypnotic and noisy aura, which manage to keep the listener immersed in a sonic labyrinth, where every nuance and singularity stands as an integral part of an unparalleled auditory journey.
After the pandemic period, the band has maintained an incessant live activity. To achieve this, they have cultivated the power of the mythical "word of mouth", strategically catalyzed by social media platforms.
On November 15, 2024, they released their third album, «No hagas que me arrepienta» (Don't Make Me Regret It), which introduces a notable novelty in both its sound and its lyrical discourse.
In October 2025, Winona Riders presents their fourth recorded work, «Quiero que lo que yo te diga sea un arma en tu arsenal» (I Want What I Tell You to Be a Weapon in Your Arsenal). The album brings together ten compositions, entirely conceived and produced by the band itself. This new project expands the group's sonic spectrum, blending guitars and electronic bases without detaching from their alternative rock essence. The tracks address diverse experiences: life on stage, relational dynamics in an alienated environment, and the characteristic punk rhythm of Buenos Aires. The album condenses an exhaustive sonic exploration that alternates moments of climatic tension and instrumental pauses, always maintaining the primacy of the word as the conceptual axis.
