Biography
Odisea Tango XXII is an ensemble emerging from the heart of the southern Buenos Aires suburbs (conurbano sur), composed of young musicians between the ages of 15 and 24. The compositions are penned by the group’s pianist, Ulises Thayer.
The ensemble explores various River Plate rhythms such as tango, milonga, and candombe, while intentionally breaking their established rules. By drawing from other musical languages and expressions—such as jazz, progressive rock, and classical elements—Odisea Tango XXII imagines, deforms, and (re)invents a non-binary subgenre self-defined as Post-tango.
With a bit more than just luck, that is where we are headed, seeking to bring new Argentine music along with us.
After several performances in the areas surrounding the band's home base, the project underwent various lineup changes to reach its current form. Following the release of two preview singles on digital platforms, they are set to release their debut album on CD in April 2026 under the Viajero Inmóvil Records label.
